Chong hosted a parents experiences sharing session on August 16, 2020 right after the 1st week of the school reopening. Pre-collected data shows that the Chrome Book and Internet connection was the biggest issue students facing in the first week, followed by course registration, although majority parents thought the 1st week was at or above their expectations.
More than 50 parents joined the meeting. In addition to propose adding more instructions on Wednesday and weekdays after 1pm, there was another concern about how to implement the course materials on time with less than 50% of instructional time comparing to the regular on-campus learning.
Another common shared confusion among the parents was the unclarity of merging Hybrid and FLEX into one program. Consequently, questions were raised on how to maximize the use of Edgenuity, an educational supplemental software tool that PUSD purchased for students.
Steve McCoy-Thompson, the executive director of PPIE was invited to the meeting and shared the donation status and where the fund will be used under the remote learning. He suggested all parents to reach out to PPIE for proposals and questions if any.
A summary of the pre-collected data and questions will be shared soon with the community on Chong4PUSD.com and social media.

Chong voice out in School Board meeting
Chong raised his voice again at PUSD board meeting on 08/13/2020. He specifically proposed to add more instruction time on Wednesday and weekdays after 1pm to ease the stress from the parents, especially for the ones that are working full time. Wednesday was originally designated for classroom cleaning and transition for on-campus instructions. Since all classes have been moved to remote learning now, the need for Wednesday break has diminished. He proposed to have mandatory teachers' check-in sessions, so that students could interact online with each other for group projects, Q&As with the teachers and other activities. The same proposal applies for weekdays after 1pm.
